Wyoming Is Like Whoa

Definitely the most beautiful country I’ve ever seen from an interstate, but lord, it is aggressively sparse. The landscape quickly confirms that, yes, this is the least populous state and it shall ever be so. Mountains and buttes abound, with no evidence that anyone has ever even thought about inflicting some sign of habitation on them. What signs you do see are just remenants; abandoned gas stations or abandoned RV graveyards. The latter do sometimes have a kept-up house with them, which just adds a extra dollop of strange. The only real signs that people are actually doing things in Wyoming are of course the massive industrial mining operations. We got a peek at the top of one of their huge cranes behind a hill we were approaching, and I was so unprepared for such a thing that my first guess was that it was some crazy Western bird the size of a car. So yeah, this stretch of the trip was one long Whoa.
